Every 2nd Thursday of the month, MERCURY@machinewerks and TURBO multimedia art collective are bringing you an entirely new kind of night club experience. This is ROTATION - open decks taken to the next level.
HERE'S HOW IT WORKS:
Each month we are giving 4 new DJs a chance to show their skills and spin a set to both live club-goers as well as a panel of rotating judges consisting of local promoters, experienced DJs, and veteran clubbers. The panel will judge each DJ's set based on mixing, flow, and compositional skill. The winner of the night takes home a cash prize and some serious bragging rights. And everyone who shows up, winner or not, will be treating themselves to some serious networking opportunities.

Check out the ROTATION event page on facebook by clicking here and simply leave a post on the event's wall letting us know that you're a DJ and you want to spin, and we'll get in touch with you via facebook!
HERE ARE SOME GROUND RULES AND ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL INFO PERTAINING TO THE NIGHT:
Each DJ/contestant must be at least 21 years of age or older and have a valid ID. No one is allowed to DJ using any sort of personal computer (notebook, netbook, laptop, etc.) The club's in-house equipment consists of 2 Pioneer CDJ-200s, 2 Technics turntables, and a Pioneer DJM-700 mixer. If you have your own CD players you'd like to bring to use in place of the 200s, you may, however to avoid excessive set-up and tear-down between sets, if one or multiple DJs bring CD players, the highest-end model of CD players brought will be set up for all of the night's contestants to DJ on - please be aware of this if you choose to bring your own equipment, and plan to stay the entirety of the night.
All DJs/contestants must be at the venue by no later than 8:45pm. Each DJ will have an hour long set in front of the judge panel. Each set will be judged with an overall average score based on each judge grading each DJ's set on a 1 to 5 scale. Each DJ will get one guest list spot next to their name for the night, but are encouraged to invite friends who are willing to pay cover to get in. The cash prize awarded at the end of the night will be a cut of the door total, so the more friends you are able to bring, the greater your chances are of winning more moolah! Plus, having a fan base won't hurt your chances in the competition, either. (;
Cover for non-contestants IE those who just wanna show up and dance will be $5 for regular club-goers and $3 for Mercury club members. For more info about becoming a member of MERCURY@machinewerks, drop us a line on facebook, or, even better, show up to the night and inquire in person!
